Numerous management opportunities exist in the field of cosmetology. Many cosmetology school graduates want to advance themselves and become owners or managers of salons.
However, only those who are adequately prepared to manage a business will be able to realize their ambitions. The owner or manager of either a full service or special service salon must have the proper qualifications. In addition to formal training, working in different types of salons and dealing with a variety of patrons help to build
valuable background and experience.
`Going into your own business is a big responsibility and not a step to be taken without serious planning. A knowledge of business principles, book-keeping, business laws, insurance, salesmanship, and psychology is crucial to the cosmetologist who aspires to be an owner and/or manager of a salon.
